Alcohol Fact or Fiction? The internet is an interesting place to play, and I play there often.
These days so much of my time is consumed by the online world, through social medias, The Drink Guy site, and endless Google searches for materials, images, funnies to share, and all that jazz!
We live in the information age, and there is no shortage of information on the internet!
The challenge we face is how to discern fact from fiction, reality from fantasy, and truth from hoax.
Of course, with some information it matters, but in my humble opinion, with some it doesn’t!
In research for various Drink Guy topics, I am always stumbling across trivia and stories about alcohol, drinking, bars, all the fun stuff!
Some things I read and think “No way is that true!”, only to discover it is, and sometimes I find things that make me laugh but I am unsuccessful in my investigation to find out if it is fact or fiction.
Normally I am hesitant to share information that I am unsure of it’s validity, but I’ve changed my mind.
Internet fact, fiction, or unknown, it’s all good for a smile and/or water cooler conversations!
So, funny laws about alcohol, fact or fiction?
Nebraska state law prohibits bars from selling beer unless they are simultaneously brewing a kettle of soup.
A person can be sent to jail for five years for merely sending a bottle of beer, wine or spirits as a gift to a friend in Kentucky.
It’s illegal to sit on any street curb in St. Louis, Missouri, and drink beer from a bucket.
Drunk drivers in San Salvador can be punished by death before a firing squad.
State law of North Dakota prohibits serving beer and pretzels at the same time in any bar or restaurant.
The entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned in Texas because it contains a recipe for making beer that can be used at home.
Anyone under the age of 21 who takes out household trash containing even a single empty alcohol beverage container can be charged with illegal possession of alcohol in Missouri.
In Saskatchewan, Canada, it’s illegal to drink alcohol while watching exotic dancers.
Frederick the Great of Prussia tried to ban the consumption of coffee and demanded that the populace drink alcohol instead. 
Don’t plan on running a “tab” in Iowa; it’s illegal.
Ohio state law prohibits getting a fish drunk. (And kissing one is…?)
An Attorney General of Kansas issued the legal opinion that drinking on an airliner was forbidden by state law while the plane was in airspace over “dry” Kansas. He said that “Kansas goes all the way up and all the way down”.
You can decide, but I can tell you that trying to discern the truth here is easier said than done, the internet is a BIG place!
I did however enjoy a thread about the Encyclopedia Britannica in Texas…I am going to hazard a guess that from what I read this one is fiction, but it is hard to tell!
Some of these laws were fact, but have since changed, some are still true, and some are pure fiction…but they all seemed worth sharing!
