Some Cocktails for the Oscar’s….

Now since the Oscar’s can be a theme party, choice of drinks will vary according to each theme.  Since I will assume a Black Tie Affair, we will go with some martini’s.

Dirty Martini

  • ¼ oz Dry Vermouth
  • 1/8 oz olive brine
  • 3 green olives (add or remove olives to your taste)
    small wedge of lemon (optional)

Directions

Into a cocktail shaker, pour the Gin, Dry Vermouth and olive brine.
Add ice.
Shake well.
Rub the rim of the martini glass with the wedge of lemon.
Strain and pour contents of cocktail shaker into a martini glass.
Drop the olives into the martini before serving.

Apple Martini

  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Sourpuss Apple Liquor
  • 1 oz apple juice
  • slice green apple

Directions

Into a cocktail shaker, pour the Vodka, Sourpuss Apple Liquor and apple juice.
Add a few ice cubes.
Shake well.

To finish, garnish the rim of the martini glass with the slice of green apple.

Pomegranate Martini

  • 1 oz Vodka or Citrus Vodka
  • 1 oz Cointreau Orange Liquor
  • 3 oz pomegranate juice
  • ¼ teaspoon lemon juice
  • lemon slice, sugar

Directions

Wet the rim of the cocktail glass with the lemon juice.
Place sugar in a saucer and dip the rim of the cocktail glass into the saucer, to produce a ring of sugar stuck to the lemon juice as a decorative rim around the glass.
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
Add ice so that the shaker is about a third full (ice plus ingredients).
Shake for 20 seconds.
Strain into a cocktail glass.
Squeeze a couple of drops from the lemon slice into the glass, then garnish the side of the cocktail glass with the slice of lemon.

Vodka Martini

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1/8 oz Dry Vermouth (just a dash)
  • garnish with olives, lemon twist or lime twist
  • ice if desired

Directions

In a cocktail shaker, pour the Vodka and Dry Vermouth.
Add ice.
Shake well.
Strain and pour into a frosted martini glass.
Drop the olive into the martini.
Finish by arranging a twist of lemon peel on the rim of the glass.

Cosmopolitan

  • 1/4 oz cranberry juice
  • orange peel for garnish

Directions
