Talk about beating a dead horse...oh my gosh!! Seriously, this is the LAST time we talk about this topic! Fortunately Glenn the Bartender mixes Lynn the Life Coach a spectacular Bailey's Chocolate Cherry drink during Episode 3 which makes it much more entertaining for everyone...believe me! Adding to the entertainment is the follow up with moderator Ken and the grand reveal of the Air Canada "smelly guy" story!
Our Bartender and our Life Coach are still fielding questions and comments on this topic, much to their complete surprise! Interesting the different paths that people's opinions are...

Dear Drink Guy:
My girlfriend of several years and I have recently broken up. I have found myself having great difficulty getting back into the social "swing" of things. So much so that the last several events that I have been invited to I have either not gone at all, even though I was bored and lonely, or I go only to leave before even going inside. Not being able to cope with these social situations sucks. The anxiety that I am experiencing is scary, but I don't want to live my life like this. Please help!
Lonely but full of Anxiety

Thank you for your...

Well it seems that we are not quite over the question first raised in our video advice column, Episode 1 of TDG TV...thus we revisit the topic in Episode 2! The controversy between the bartender and the life coach rages on! Since the topic seems to create strong emotions in MANY people lol, we decided that a moderator was prudent! (Make sure to watch TDG TV Episode 1 first!)
Since Glenn the bartender is too busy watching Harry Potter on the TV to help or monitor me, the life coach, it seems I can write whatever I want. Although Glenn is just a bartender he is usually right as...

I allowed the last comment on our first video as it only seemed fair. Now who will be the bigger man, it's up to you guys. The point everyone seems to be missing is that there is no right or wrong. You can be a gentleman all you want, the fact is some women don't need or want our help. In today's society more women will stand up for themselves. Great I say.
Most women I have dated, generally want me to walk away from a confrontation. Yet as someone who is interfering, or sorry, engaging another for the sake of protecting a woman's honor, pride or rights, whatever you want to...

Kentucky Bourbon
Now I didn't plan on talking about alcohol tonight, especially not whiskey, but since the restaurant has been slow the last couple days, I really have no good stories to tell. I know Lynn answered an email yesterday about Gin Rickey and seemed to enjoy every minute. Please tell me we haven't create a monster, but hey, if we can get her to try other drinks all the better. No more wine for you. Just kidding, I love wine.
Now generally I'm a Canadian Rye Whiskey drinker, and proud of it. I have tried others, the likes of, Scotch, Irish and Tennessee. However, I always...

Now some here have been made with Canadian, such as the Whiskey Sour or Manhattan. I'm sure you can substitute but let's try with Bourbon. I've also listed a few for the Honey Reserve from Evan Williams.
The Stinger
½ oz. Honey Reserve
½ oz. Evan Williams Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
½ oz. Energy Drink
Splash of Grenadine
Shake over ice and strain into shot glass
Honey Splash
2 oz. Honey Reserve
3 oz. Cranberry Juice
1 oz. Lemon Lime Soda
Shake and pour over ice
Bourbon & Cream Martini

Well here we are in what I promise you will be a rare post...Lynn posting about drinks, drink recipes, and drink trivia. I am not confused about who on the drink guy team are the experts in these areas, and it is not me! I do however find myself in a strange place, so thus, this post!
A few minutes ago a question was posed to the drink guy Glenn on our FaceBook fan page of "The Drink Guy". The question was simple...asking about the recipe for a Gin Rickey. Dale, (who is a friend so I'm hoping he does not mind me using his real name lol!) hails from the beautiful state of Kentucky.

I'm stunned at the responses we received here and on facebook and twitter. I would like to thank you all for your input, it was a delight to read all of them. This first episode of TDG TV was a hit and certainly calls for a follow up episode. This seems to be an unresolved issue here at TDG, and has caused a very heated debate between The Drink Guy and The Life Coach, none of it caught on film. I would like to take this time to invite all who commented to join us for round two of What Should the Bartender Do.
We will figure out a place and date, as I might need some help on...

So, I just want to know what everyone thinks is the perfect day for Valentines.
I usually work, since it is one of the busiest days of the year in the restaurant/bar industry. I will say I never really understood why. It's like every cheap, lame or unromantic person in the world uses this day to make up for lost time. Or they use this day especially, to say I still love you. Like it makes up for the rest of the year when you couldn't say those three words. Don't get me wrong I will buy a card for Valentines, but to me it isn't unlike any other day.
Why are holidays, birthdays, mothers...

As you know I love Absinthe, so I thought some recipes were in order. I also threw in one for cooking that I will be trying this weekend. It looks and sounds awesome. I will have to get some relatives to send me another bottle, or two. These come from the good people at Hapsburg.
Absinthe Recipe - Punch©

20ml Hapsburge Absinthe for Cocktails.
20ml Rye Whiskey.

Welcome to Episode 1 of The Drink Guy TV!
We are very excited at The Drink Guy to bring you this episode, where Glenn The Drink Guy and Lynn the Life Coach discuss a situation that arose the evening before at the bar. The situation occurred when a woman was sitting alone at the bar, waiting for a friend who was very late. While she was waiting a man repeatedly attempted to engage her in conversation, asked her for her phone number, and basically refused to take "No" for an answer. The question we are discussing is, at what point is it the responsibility of the establishment to step in,...

Championship Beer Brewing:
I am part of a local beer brewing club, although I have to admit I have never attended an event but I probably should. Maybe I can do a video of the next event.
Anyway, they just ran a contest and I thought I would post the result here just for the other readers. This is from George Leet who is a beer brewing guru. Maybe I'll do an video interview of his process if he doesn't mind sometime for this website. Anyway enjoy:
The Amsterdam Nut Brown contest winners have been announced.
Roger Beal, Wayne Reeves, and Amsterdam Brewmaster Jamie Mistry judged...

Proud to be a Canadian!
So, in honour of the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, some fun facts (although I admit I have not checked them, just laughed at them) about Canada

Dear Drink Guy:
You must see plenty of this. How do you suggest I deal with one of “those” friends, the one who just can’t control their drinking or their behavior when they drink? I’m tired of dealing with their drunken ass, & they refuse to listen to anyone about it.
Fed Up (but torn by friendship)
Lynn's Two Cents...
I realize that this question has been directed to our resident drink guy Glenn, who will most certainly have seen a lot of this over the years and most assuredly have some great advice for "Fed Up"...however; I would feel remiss if I did not add my...

Well I'm certainly not talking about working out. I've been under the weather the last few days and it's my own fault. When you drink three out of four nights something is bound to give. There certainly are other factors involved, and no I don't mean the hard stuff. I just can't remember her name so it's best not to bring her up. Alcohol does weaken the immune system and cause memory loss.
Wow, that brings me back to another name forgotten, or never knew. I'm not sure. We only knew her for four days, she drove us home all those nights and drank till the wee hours of the...

There is nothing better than having an easy night, making money, the odd drink bought for you and friends coming in to keep you company.
I serve the drinks, we watch sports and talk about everything that comes up. Being the day after Superbowl, not a lot of souls will have the energy to go out. Remember, mass quantities of beer were consumed yesterday, along with huge servings of greasy but very tasty snacks. However, there is something to be said for 'regulars'.
Tonight we praised the Saints and Drew Brees. Fantastic game all round by both teams. We watched hockey and poker,...

How Many is Too Many
by Glenn on February 8, 2010
Now here is a question for our Life Coach. Since she is woman of superior intelligence, and great looks, I want to know the answer. This came to my attention this week from a young lady I work with. It all comes back as I have been asked the same question, and it’s definitely a curious one. This woman was out on...
